How to Start Your Day on a SNO-GO in Buttermilk
Buttermilk is known for its welcoming, beginner-friendly terrain, making it a great choice for new SNO-GO riders. Here’s a guide to the best access points, tips on lifts, and a few important rules to ensure you have a smooth day on the mountain.

Main Base Area – Summit Express Lift
For direct access to Buttermilk’s main slopes, start at the Summit Express Lift near the main base area. This lift provides a convenient way to explore Buttermilk’s gentle, beginner-friendly runs, perfect for getting comfortable on your SNO-GO bike.

Beginner Option – Panda Peak Lift
If you’re feeling nervous or are a true beginner, the Panda Peak Lift is a great starting point. This small lift services an easy, dedicated beginner area, where you can practice your balance, turning, and control before moving to larger runs.

Parking and Access Rules
Buttermilk offers ample parking, so finding a spot should be easy. However, be mindful of the gate rules when entering the slopes:
-
When entering the gates, only the right gate in the second set is wide enough to accommodate a SNO-GO bike. If you’re with multiple riders, one person can lift their bike over the gate, or you can go through one at a time in the right gate—just keep the flow moving.

Important Lift Advisory – Avoid the West Buttermilk Lift
The West Buttermilk Lift is primarily designed for children, with a lower lip that may cause the front skis of a SNO-GO bike to catch when unloading. If you do find yourself on this lift, be sure to flag down the lift attendant before unloading so they can stop the lift in advance to help you off safely.
