Frequently asked questions
SNO-GO bikes are designed with a built-in chairlift hook, making loading simple and easy. You approach the chairlift just like you would on skis or a snowboard.
As the chair comes in, place your feet on the outside of the bike, sit down first, and let the chair scoop underneath the SNO-GO chairlift hook. The bike will lift smoothly and sit securely between your legs during the ride up.
If it’s your first time riding a SNO-GO, we recommend not loading with a completely full chair so you have a little extra room. You can also ask the lift attendant to slow the lift down if you’re feeling nervous. They’re very familiar with SNO-GO bikes and happy to help.
For a visual walkthrough, be sure to watch the tutorial video before your first ride.
Snowboarding boots are highly recommended. SNO-GO bikes are designed to work best with snowboarding boots and provide the most control, comfort, and security while riding.
You can get away with a good pair of winter boots, but they are more likely to slip out and won’t feel as stable as snowboard boots.
Ski boots are not allowed and will not work with SNO-GO bikes.
We offer two pickup options: standard delivery and vacation rental delivery.
With vacation rental delivery, we bring the SNO-GO directly to where you’re staying, either the night before or the day of your rental.
With standard delivery, pickup locations are on the mountain at each resort, typically near the main lift area. In many cases, bikes are securely locked with a combination bike lock and waiting for you when you arrive.
While skibiking is becoming more popular, not all resorts accept them yet. We recommend checking with each resort beforehand. SNO-GO maintains a list of skibike-friendly resorts on thier website and its updated regularly as more resorts begin to accommodate this exciting sport. SNO-GOs are allowed at all Vail Resort Ski Areas. They are also allowed at all four mountains in Aspen.
Like any winter sport, ski biking has some risk, but it is not inherently more dangerous than skiing or snowboarding. Riders stand on the bike and are not strapped in, allowing them to step away during a fall, which can reduce the risk of injury. The bike’s stability and controlled handling make it confidence-inspiring for many riders, especially beginners.
Yes, ski biking is often considered easier on the joints than traditional skiing or snowboarding. The bike’s suspension helps absorb impact, reducing stress on the knees and ankles. Your body weight is more evenly distributed between the handlebars and the rear skis, rather than being placed entirely on your legs, which many riders find more comfortable and less fatiguing.
Many riders with previous ACL injuries find SNO-GO bikes more comfortable than skiing or snowboarding because you are not locked into bindings and can step away from the bike if needed. Not all of the pressure is on your legs, as a portion of your weight is supported through the handlebars and front ski as well. The stable design and controlled movements can feel easier on the knees for some riders. Everyone is different, so riding within your comfort level and consulting a medical professional is always recommended.
Absolutely no ski boots! They can cause you to slip out, increasing the risk of injury. While harder winter boots are an option, they also carry a risk of slipping. For the best experience and safety, we strongly recommend wearing snowboard boots, as they provide the most secure and comfortable fit for riding.
