How to Start Your Day on a SNO-GO in Aspen, Colorado
Aspen Mountain provides challenging terrain with no beginner runs, making it perfect for experienced SNO-GO riders. Here’s a guide to the best access points and runs to ensure you have a smooth and exciting day.
Aspen Mountain – Silver Queen Gondola
The Silver Queen Gondola at the base of Aspen Mountain is the best meeting point and main lift for starting your SNO-GO experience. This gondola brings you up to the top, providing direct access to advanced and expert terrain. You’ll need to lift your SNO-GO bike inside the gondola, and lift attendants are available to help if needed. From the top, experienced riders can explore the iconic slopes and take in stunning views of the Elk Mountains.
Recommended Runs for Advanced Riders
Aspen Mountain doesn’t offer any green runs, so riders should be comfortable with advanced terrain. For a slightly easier start, head over to the Ajax Express Lift after exiting the Silver Queen Gondola. Here, you’ll find some of the mountain's milder blue runs, ideal for getting into the rhythm before moving on to steeper areas.
Parking and Shuttle Options
Parking near Aspen Mountain is limited to paid street parking, which can fill up quickly. For more convenient access, consider using the various shuttle services available around Aspen. These shuttles can take you directly to the base of the Silver Queen Gondola, allowing for a smooth start to your day.

Tips for Your Ski Bike Rental in Aspen Mountain
Make the most of your Aspen Mountain ski bike rental with these practical tips! Whether you're renting a SNO-GO for the first time or you're an experienced rider, these pointers will help you ride with confidence and enjoy one of Colorado's most iconic ski resorts.
-
Wear the right gear. SNO-GOs require snowboard boots—ski boots are not compatible. Wear waterproof winter clothing, insulated gloves, goggles, and a properly fitted helmet.
-
Always wear your leash. Before every run, attach the SNO-GO leash to your wrist. This prevents the bike from sliding away if you fall and is required for your safety.
-
Give yourself extra space on the chairlift. Your SNO-GO counts as a person, so don't load a full chair. On a 4-person chair, ride with no more than two other people, especially while you're learning.
-
Keep your weight over the front ski. The biggest beginner mistake is leaning back. Lean your chest over the handlebars and put plenty of weight on the front ski for better steering and control.
-
Tilt the handlebars—don't turn them. SNO-GOs carve by tilting the handlebars, not by steering them like a bicycle. Exaggerate the lean so your ski edges stay aligned through the turn and help prevent the front ski from catching.
-
Stay low and ride aggressively. Keep your knees bent, elbows bent, and your center of gravity low. A low, athletic stance gives you much better balance and control than standing upright.
-
Start on Ajax Express. If it's your first time riding a SNO-GO at Aspen Mountain, take a few laps on the Ajax Express before exploring the rest of the mountain. Build confidence before moving onto Aspen Mountain's steeper terrain.
-
Take a break at the Sundeck. Ride the Silver Queen Gondola and stop at the Sundeck for lunch while enjoying some of the best views in Aspen.
By following these tips, you'll be ready to explore Aspen Mountain with confidence. Book your Aspen Mountain ski bike rental today and discover why riding a SNO-GO is one of the most exciting ways to experience Aspen's legendary terrain.

Tips for Bringing Your
Own SNO-GO to Aspen Mountain
-
Drop off your SNO-GO before parking. Most parking for Aspen Mountain is a walk from the Silver Queen Gondola. Save yourself the hassle by dropping your SNO-GO off in the passenger drop-off area near the base of the Silver Queen Gondola before parking. Do not leave your vehicle unattended—drop off the bike, then return to park.
-
Bring a bike lock. Lock your SNO-GO to the ski racks while you're inside the lodge or taking a break.
-
Riding multiple days? Lock your ski bike up overnight. Leave your SNO-GO securely locked at Aspen Mountain so you don't have to transport it back and forth each day.
-
Always lock it to a ski rack on pavement. Never lock your SNO-GO in the snow. It interferes with resort operations and can create issues with mountain staff. Always use a ski rack located on pavement.
-
Check every bolt before riding. Pay close attention to the control arm bolts and center axle bolt. Loose bolts can eventually fail. We recommend using blue Loctite on all bolts to help prevent them from backing out.
-
Carry a compact tool kit. A small mountain bike multi-tool, Allen keys, stubby wrenches, and spare control arm bolts, pins, and hardware can save your day. A small frame bag or handlebar bag is a great way to keep everything with your SNO-GO.
